Scieral Band Eye Surgery

This procedures uses small band like pieces that are placed in the white part of the eye around the cornea. These give more leverage to the muscles inside the eye that flex the lens.

It is this lens flexing that allows for accommodation, or the ability to see close up, and it is the stiffening of the lens as we age that causes loss of reading ability.

By providing more leverage to the muscles, even older, stiffer lenses can be flexed, thereby restoring some measure of reading vision. This is in very early experimental stages, and if effective and successful, will eventually be available at Alpha Laser Center.
